NOTICE of Candidate Forum and Endorsement Meeting

Dear SDSA Member:

This is to give you NOTICE that there will be a Candidate Forum and Endorsement Meeting on Sunday, March 22, beginning at 1:00 pm in the Fiesta Room of Luby's Cafeteria, 911 N. Main Avenue.

Please note, we will have our regularly scheduled monthly meeting on March 16, 6:30 pm at Luby’s.

The purpose of the March 22 meeting is to hear from candidates who have filed for the May 09, 2015 Mayor and City Council elections as well as any local school board candidates who are on the May 09th ballot and who are interested in seeking our endorsement.

Each of these candidates has been invited to attend our Forum and to complete and submit a candidate questionnaire. After we hear from all the candidates, SDSA members will caucus to vote on the endorsements.

To be eligible to vote on these endorsements, a member must be a member in good standing as defined in Article IV, Section 1 of the SDSA Bylaws and have been a member for at least 30 days prior to the endorsement meeting. Lapsed members, whose dues are less than a year in arrears, may renew their membership at the time of the endorsement meeting and will be eligible to vote.

Runoff elections in these races are scheduled for Saturday, June 13. If deemed appropriate by the SDSA Board of Directors, another endorsement meeting may be held during our regular monthly meeting on May 18, 2015 to consider a vote on additional endorsements for the June 13 runoff election.
